13-year-old Genevieve, winner of the Spring Composition Challenge, performing her composition “Winter’s Farewell”

During the holidays, students composed spring-themed piano pieces using the techniques and theory learned in class. Genevieve’s winning composition showcases major, minor, diminished and seventh chords in varied inversions, drawing on the theory she is studying while preparing for her Grade 8 AMEB exam. She did a fantastic job and is this year’s composition competition winner.

    Come attend an intimate piano recital on Sunday the 15th September in Googong to raise funds for a new piano for the Googong Public School. The recital features music by pianist Jojo Yuen, one of the Kingsland Fellows in the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, and a short performance by Roya Safaei.
